What is the Feldenkrais Method?

Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais was a physicist, engineer and judo master
who pioneered a learning system that utilizes movement and awareness of self
to bring about remarkable changes in the human mind and body.  Based on his
understanding of the central nervous system, he created a mode that
incorporates over 1,000 movement-lessons and personalized hands-on
teachings.  These are designed around specific functions that make it
possible for the brain to organize action more effectively.

The Feldenkrais Method shows you how to learn from your body.
You begin a continuing process of change, shifting out of old habits and
into useful new ones. The method utilizes functionally based variation,
innovation and differentiation in sensory motor activity to free us from
habitual patterns and allow for new patterns of thinking, moving and feeling
to emerge.

The Feldenkrais Method does not require weeks or months to show
results. You notice change after (or even during) your first session.
The Feldenkrais Method is not an exercise. But, it does enhance any form
of exercise, making it easier and more effective and enjoyable.  If you
already perform at a high level, Feldenkrais will help you maximize your
ability. If you simply want to move with more ease and less pain, it will
show you how to achieve that goal.

What is the Anat Baniel Method?

The ANAT BANIEL METHOD derives from the groundbreaking method developed by Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais. The Method is based on cutting-edge scientific theory
and the understanding of how the brain learns. Movement and awareness of
self are the main means for communicating with the brain in order to bring
about potent learning and change. Anat Baniel expanded the application of
the same scientific principles to include not only the body and movement --
but also emotional, intellectual, and spiritual development. The Anat Baniel
Method embodies an extensive evolution of the Feldenkrais Method in several
key directions: Anti-Aging and Vitality; Pain Relief; Children with Special
Needs; and High Performers. It also embodies evolution and refinements of
practice and teaching.

Ms. Baniel, in 11 years of apprenticeship and close cooperation with Dr.
Feldenkrais, followed by 20 years of continued practice, teaching, and
study, has been steadily evolving and refining the Feldenkrais Method to the
present Anat Baniel Method.
